New Orleans guide · Roofing
Listings are coming. This guide lists only businesses that appear on a public licensing record, and for roofers we're waiting on the LSLBC's roster of licensed roofing contractors, requested as a public record. Until then, here are the rules and how to check a license yourself.

For a home roof job of $7,500 or more, the roofer needs an LSLBC Residential Roofing or Residential Construction license. Since January 1, 2026 that covers advertising, bidding and quoting the job too, not only doing it. A home improvement license does not cover roofing.

No. Louisiana law bars a contractor from offering to pay, waive or absorb the deductible on a claim-paid job, or from raising the price to cover it. Contractors also may not advertise insurance-claim help or act as your public adjuster.

A sale made at your home can be cancelled until midnight of the third business day. Check the license on the LSLBC's search before you sign or pay, get everything in writing, and don't pay it all up front.
