How to choose a pest control company

  1. Check the company's LDAF permit. A structural pest control business needs a Place of Business permit from LDAF, and the permits expire June 30 and must be renewed every year (LDAF). LDAF publishes the list of permitted companies (LDAF list); the badges in this guide link to it.
  2. Ask what the person treating your home is licensed for. LDAF requires an individual license to do pest control, and separate ones by job: General Pest Control for household pests, Termite Control for termites, Structural Fumigation for fumigating a building (LDAF). Ask which one covers your job.
  3. Termite contracts are reported to the state. LDAF requires licensed companies to report every termite contract, wood-destroying insect report and termite perimeter application to it each month (LDAF). Keep your copy of the contract.
  4. If the work falls short, LDAF takes complaints. If you believe a company's work doesn't meet the state's minimum specifications, LDAF's New Orleans district office handles complaints for Orleans and Jefferson (LDAF complaints).

How this list was built

Who's listed. A company is listed when it is based in Orleans or Jefferson Parish, has a phone, and either holds a structural pest control Place of Business permit listed as active on the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry's (LDAF) list, or appears in public business listings under a pest-control category. Duplicates (same phone) are listed once. We also need to confirm a real local base: an LDAF match, or a street address in the parish shown on the company's own website next to the same phone, or on a City of New Orleans occupational license.

Who's left out. A permit held under a person's own name; stores; companies whose name says their main trade is something else (lawn care, cleaning and the like); and listings that look like call-routing services rather than a local company: an out-of-state phone number, three or more different names on near-identical phone numbers, a throwaway ".site" web address, or a name made of a city plus a service, unless it matches the board's records. Companies whose base we couldn't confirm are left out too, for now. If we left your company out by mistake, use the form below and we'll add it.

What a listing shows. Name, phone, base city, a website we checked (it loaded and showed the same phone number), and the LDAF Place of Business permit number, when the company matches LDAF's list by exact phone or exact name. LDAF's list doesn't publish a first-issued date, so no year is shown. A missing badge only means we couldn't match a company to those records with certainty. Ask the company for its number and check it.

Order. Alphabetical. Nobody pays to be listed, and whether a company works with autoants never changes its order or how it looks.

What we never show. Star ratings or reviews, and anything that isn't a public fact about the company.

Dates. Permit data from LDAF's Place of Business list (revised April 20, 2026), read October 19, 2026; business listings gathered October 19, 2026.
